Carmn Cady has crafted a very compelling and exciting tale and her character Jack Calloway is equally intriguing and captivating. loved it!
Private investigator and criminal profiler, Jack Calloway is not your ordinary criminal justice professional. He has covert abilities far beyond the normal tools of the trade; causing him to be highly sought after by many law enforcement agencies across the country. After the agony of witnessing the murder of his family Jack is consumed with guilt and it stays with him and eats at him for years until he senses a connection to a serial killer in Seattle. Will Jack finally find and deliver justice to the killer of his family, or will this creature of his past outsmart him and take him down and set Jack up as the suspect in the serial killings?
The conflicts continue to build as Jack has to also work with an ex-lover who is a forensic expert and a lead detective who despises Jack. None of this, however, compares to the secret that Jack Halloway has kept under wraps for ages. Will justice be served and what will be the cost?
This novel fell just short of a five star "must read" for me because the first pages of the story didn't have enough depth, as the sentences were clipped. It was a bit difficult to get into the story but that soon changed, and I became hooked into going on to the next page.
It's obvious that the author has a diverse background of knowledge in police procedures and psychology, and she uses it expertly throughout this story. The characters are well developed and interesting and the plot held my interest until the very last word. It's sometimes a toss-up as to whether a reader will continue in a book series but this one has peaked my interest- I will continue.
